Alexandra Makarova

Alexandra Makarova (Artistic Director and Conductor) was born in Leningrad and studied at Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory since 2010. She gets an Degree in Choralconducting and afterward a post graduate education at Saint-Petersburg State Conservatory.

She won some importand COMPETITIONS: In 2009 the 4th place andspecial prize of Jazeps Vitols International Competition (Riga, Latvia), the 3rd prize in First All Russian CHORAL Conducting Competition Moscow in 2011 in 2014 the 1st prize in International Competition of CHORAL Conductors named under prof. Boris Tevlin and the best young conductors prize at International chamber choir competition 2015 in Marktoberdorf (Germany).

From 2005 to 2010 she CONDUCTs the Youth Choir of Lyceum of Arts Saint-Petersburg, from 2011 to 2013 the Studentchoir of Gracias Music Preparatory school in Daejeon (South Korea) and received the silver medal in International Choir Competition 2011 in Busan (South Korea). She did a tour to South Asia Countries as India, Vietnam and Cambogia.

In 2013 Makarova founded a chamber choir of Saint-Petersburg State Polytechnical University and she‘s the ARTISTIC DIRECTOR and conductor of Festino Chamber Choir since 2008 to present. This choir uniting 18 young choir conductors from Saint-Petersburg. Also she worked with such ensembles as: St-Petersburg State Conservatory choir and Chamber choir, Chamber choir of Moscow State Conservatory, Students choir of Latvian Music Academy, Latvian Radio Choir, Ave sol chamber choir, Eric Ericcson chamber choir, Lege artis chamber choir, Students choir of Saarbruecken Hochschule fuer Musik, and Chamber orchestra Camerata Nordica.

Last she’s author of several articles about Choral-music of St-Petersburg composer Dmitry Smirnov.
